Saturdays are still my favourite days, for some reason. When I was a kid, they meant games of football in the morning; homemade soup for dinner before going to watch Liverpool play at home with my Dad; accompanying father to alehouse afterwards for his swift half before heading home to catch weekend telly that culminated in "Match Of The Day" and "Parkinson".
lyrics
Saturday morning I wake up
And the problems that weigh heavy through the week
Become as light as the sun
Until they’re up and gone
Feel like I’m ready to shake up
All the footprints out from underneath my feet
So I can stand up and say
I love a Saturday
Saturday morning
Feeling so happy
I’m in mourning when it ends
Saturday morning
Captures a moment
Like a warning from your friends
Saturday morning is alright
No work, no school, no outside pressures
Cooking up a storm in my head
I’m doing chores instead
Washing out my pants
Watering my plants
Hooverin’ up the dust
Toasting up a crust…..
Chorus
Saturday morning is over
Taken over by the afternoon and straight
Into an evening we go
Then it’s tomorrow
So Saturday morning forever
I have felt this way since I was knee-bone high
To every tinker & whore
Who loves a Sunday more
Chorus
